The capital city of Montenegro whose existence has been completely forgotten by the world - that is Podgorica. At least that’s what it looks like at first glance. Personally, I’m careful when I’m speaking about something very critically so I don’t come across as wanting to discredit the place or the locals. It’s quite hard to avoid that when describing this city.
When I google Podgorica, I can find some pretty pictures. But that’s the end of it. Although it’s possible to stumble upon a nice structure, a historical building or a square, it’s almost always just that one thing - alone, imprisoned between a never-ending cluster of bland concrete facades of apartment blocks. A square, but no cozy coffee place. A historical building, but no bench nearby. Everything feels utilitarian and faded. It looks like the time stopped here about thirty years ago. The streets depress me, and I don’t envy the locals. Of all the cities I’ve visited, I spend the least time here. If you don’t believe me, go have a look for yourself. I’ll be happy if you convince me otherwise.
